On Saturday (August 08), the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled the state franchise T20 league named “Sher-e-Punjab” T20 league. This 20-over tournament is inspired by the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as other Indian state franchise T20 leagues.
With six franchise teams and 450 players, the inaugural edition of the Sher-e-Punjab is scheduled to take place between August 30 and September 13. All 27 matches will be staged at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali.
Several noteworthy cricketers hailing from Punjab are set to feature in the competition as their presence bolsters the squad’s strength. It includes the high-profile stars or marquee players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Arshdeep Singh.
The player auction recently took place on Sunday (August 09), where 450 players went under the hammer, with Sanvir Singh emerging as the most expensive player of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup 2026.
