The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced the revised schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, on May 12, after 10 pm IST. According to the latest fixtures, the 18th season is set to restart on May 17 (Saturday), and the final match is confirmed to take place on June 03 (Tuesday).
Following the tournament’s one-week suspension, there were speculations that the matches could be relocated outside India until September 2025.
Fortunately, a ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan on Saturday (May 10) paved the path for the world’s richest T20 league to restart sooner than expected.
Also, the abandoned fixture between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will be hosted again on 24th May at Jaipur. Previously, the clash between these two teams was halted midway in Dharamsala due to the increased military conflict between India and Pakistan.
While six different venues across India have been shortlisted to host the league stage matches, the locations for the playoffs are yet to be confirmed officially.
Number of Rescheduled Matches in IPL 2025
Including the cancelled match between PBKS and DC, the remaining 17 matches are set to restart after suspension, which includes 13 league stage games and 4 playoffs.
6 Venues to Host Rescheduled Matches of IPL 2025 After Suspension
Rather than preferring traditional home and away venues, these are the six different cities across India that are set to host the remainder of IPL 2025 after suspension:
- Ahmedabad: Narendra Modi Stadium
- Bengaluru:M.Chinnaswamy Stadium
- Jaipur: Sawai Mansingh Stadium
- Delhi: Arun Jaitley Stadium
- Lucknow: Ekana Cricket Stadium
- Mumbai: Wankhede Stadium
It is understood that none of the matches will be played in Mohali or Dharamsala, keeping in mind the logistical constraints and security concerns.

BCCI About Safe Restart of IPL 2025: A Thankful Note to India’s Armed Forces
The BCCI released an official statement expressing their gratitude to the Indian armed forces for their efforts to safeguard the nation, which provided an opportunity for the cricket board to complete the remaining season of the IPL. Here’s what the Indian cricket board added in its statement:
“Certainly! After detailed discussions with the government, security officials, and key parties, the Board has come up with a decision to restart the remainder of the league’s current edition.
Moreover, BCCI sincerely salutes the bravery and willpower of the Indian armed forces, whose valuable efforts allowed cricket to return safely to our nation. At the same time, the Board remains committed to adhering to the national support as well as ensuring to complete the league successfully,” the BCCI stated.
IPL 2025 Overseas Players Uncertainty: Biggest Challenge After Ceasefire
While IPL 2025 is set to restart within a week, the franchise owners are worried as the overseas players are uncertain to confirm their participation.
As the race to the playoffs gets heated up, efforts continue to find the best solutions, considering the foreign cricketers’ international cricket commitments and their fear of fleeing from India due to security issues.
Particularly, the Australian and South African stars will be gearing up for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, scheduled to commence on June 11, a week after IPL 2025 gets completed.
