West Indies held their nerves till the last day by dismissing Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. But, Rahul, as India’s opener, showed his absolute defense and tackled well enough against both spin and pace.

Justin Greaves’ unbeaten 85-ball-50 runs (including 3 fours) and Roston Chase’s 40 runs from 72 balls (including 4 fours and 1 six) allowed West Indies to take a considerable lead.

Jayden Seales, as a tailender, deserves a special mention for his 32-run knock out of 67 balls (including 1 four and 1 six) that propelled his team’s second innings to 390 in 118.5 overs.

However, the 120-run lead was too fragile for the visitors to defend against the mighty batting line-up of the Indians.

Campbell and Hope’s century proved to be threatening for India at one stage. But the spinners, namely Kuldeep Yadav (3/104 in 29 overs), Washington Sundar (1/80 in 23 overs), and Ravindra Jadeja (102/1 in 33 overs), prevented the flow of runs.

Jasprit Bumrah (3/44 in 17.5 overs) and Mohammed Siraj (2/43 in 15 overs) bolstered India’s pace bowling attack and provided the required breakthroughs at crucial moments.

The 33-year-old formed a critical 79-run partnership with Sudharsan and remained unbeaten, scoring 58 runs at a strike rate of 53.70, after facing 108 deliveries, which includes 6 fours and 2 sixes.

For the first time in 147 years, the Indian cricket team created history by winning 10 consecutive test series against a particular team (West Indies) without facing any loss in a single game.

To explain in simple terms, Team India hasn’t even lost a test match to West Indies since 2002, thereby holding a record of 17 wins and 10 draws over a span of two decades.

Ultimately, this is India’s longest winning streak against any team in the history of test cricket. Overall, this is the first test series win for Shubman Gill as a test captain, following a 2-2 draw in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
