“See! Right now it would be difficult to say. Also, it wouldn’t be fair enough to think too much about the future. To be honest I cannot say anything about 2027 now, because it is too far to think right now.
I don’t want to draw any predictions and tell if I will or won’t participate in the 2027 World Cup. It would be illogical to make such statements at present. But, I want to keep my opportunities wide OPEN at all times. All I want to observe is how well I am playing.
One more fact I would like to convey. I am not retiring from this format. Just want to ensure that there shouldn’t be any rumors spreading forward. ” the Indian opening batter said.

Currently, I believe that I am playing well and enjoying the best that I’m contributing to the team. It is nice that the team is enjoying my company, which matters to me a lot at this point,” the 37-year-old added a few more facts.

Rohit’s Dream to Lift the ODI World Cup Trophy
Earlier, Rohit Sharma said that winning the ODI World Cup has always been his dream since he was a child. After missing out the India’s 2011 World Cup winning squad led by MS Dhoni, the opening batter participated in the 2015 and 2019 editions, where India reached the semi-finals.
Particularly, his performance spiked in the 2019 World Cup, as he concluded as the tournament’s leading run scorer with 648 runs in 9 innings, including 5 centuries and a half-century.
However, it was a golden chance for the men-in-blue to lift the World Cup 2023 trophy under Rohit’s captaincy when India won 10 straight matches in the tournament before losing to Australia by 6 wickets in the final match in Ahmedabad.

- 10 wins out of 11 matches in ODI World Cup 2023
- 8 wins out of 8 matches in T20 World Cup 2024
- 5 wins out of 5 matches in Champions Trophy 2025
