On Monday (June 02), the International Cricket Council (ICC) finally revealed the important dates and hosting venues for the Women’s World Cup 2025. The 13th edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place between September 30 and November 02, across five different hosting venues.
While Bengaluru is designated to host the tournament’s final, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo (Sri Lanka). In other words, the forthcoming edition of the Women’s World Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model. This is reminiscent of the arrangement where Pakistan, as the main hosts, organized the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, but Team India played all their matches in Dubai, including the finals as well.
It is to be noted that the ICC’s upcoming prestigious event makes a comeback to the Indian soil after 12 years, having hosted the last edition back in 2013. Also, the 2016 Women’s T20 World Cup was the last ICC global women’s event hosted by India, along with the men’s tournament.
Meanwhile, the ICC has announced the schedule for the opening contests and knockouts of the women’s T20 World Cup that will be hosted by England in 2026.

- Indore (INDIA): Holkar Stadium.

- Colombo (SRI LANKA): R. Premadasa Stadium.

What if Pakistan Qualifies for the Women’s World Cup 2025 Final?
Suppose the Pakistan women’s team manages to qualify for the women’s World Cup 2025 final, then the match will be relocated from Bengaluru to Colombo.
Jay Shah’s Opinion on Two Global Women’s Tournaments
It is to be noted that the ICC officially announced the key dates and venues for the Women’s World Cup 2025, along with the schedule of the tournament opener and knockouts of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Here’s what the ICC Chairman Jay Shah had to say about the two main global women’s tournaments (ODI WC 2025 and T20 WC 2026):
“Certainly! It is exciting to make some important announcements simultaneously. In the upcoming months, the two global women’s tournaments will be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), each.
Over these years, fans have extended a great support for the women’s sport, and I’m confident that they will start preparing for these high-profile events now that the essential dates and venues have been announced.
It is a fact that women’s cricket has been the centerpiece of our missions. We are confident that the two forthcoming tournaments will not only extend the exceptional momentum we’ve built in recent years, but also elevate the standards to greater heights,” Shah said.
Women’s World Cup 2025 Follows a Hybrid Model
Due to the political tensions and security concerns, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
Following the increasing controversy, the hybrid model was introduced, which stated that these two countries would play their matches at a neutral venue if the ICC events were hosted by any of them.
As a result, the Pakistan women’s team will play all their matches of the World Cup 2025 in Colombo as well as the semi-final and final, only if the women in green qualify for the next stages of the tournament.
Moreover, it remains to be seen if India and Pakistan are placed in the same group or not in the forthcoming ICC contest. This has been the debate in recent times following the Pahalgam terror attacks, thereby worsening the relationship between the two neighboring nations to an unimaginable extent.
Final Opinion
The upcoming World Cup 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, highlights the growing success and popularity of women’s cricket all over the world. Australia, having won seven World Cups are favorite to once again claim the highly coveted title. With several heavyweights and emerging competitors, the tournament promises to provide the fiercest action and adrenaline pumping moments than ever before
